This document explains how Viento handles information, how weather data is provided, and the terms that apply when you use the app.

Viento is a minimal weather app designed to show current weather, hourly forecasts, 10-day forecasts, wind, light, air, pressure, saved locations, widgets, app settings, and severe weather alerts where available. Viento also offers an optional Viento+ subscription with additional weather views, widgets, personalization, saved-place, comparison, and iCloud sync features. By using Viento, you agree to the practices described below.

Interpretation and Definitions

Definitions

For the purposes of this document:

Application refers to Viento.

Company refers to Viento.

Device means any device that can access the Application, such as an iPhone or iPad.

Personal Data means information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.

Service refers to the Application.

Viento+ means Viento's optional premium subscription, available as monthly and annual auto-renewable plans.

Usage Data refers to data collected automatically from use of the Service or related technical systems.

You means the individual using the Service.

What Viento Collects and Stores

Location data

Viento can request access to your device location so it can show weather for your current location. Location permission is controlled by iOS. If you allow location access, Viento may use your current device location to request weather data.

• Your current location is used to display current weather and forecasts for where you are
• You can deny or revoke location permission through iPhone Settings
• If location access is unavailable, some current-location features may not work until you choose or add another location

Saved locations

Viento lets you search for, save, select, and remove weather locations. Saved location data may include a place name, subtitle or region text, latitude, longitude, and the selected location identifier.

• Saved locations are stored locally on your device by default
• If you subscribe to Viento+ and enable iCloud Sync, supported saved-location data is also stored in your iCloud account and may sync across your devices signed in to that account
• Current Location is treated separately from manually saved places
• Removing the app from your device may delete locally stored saved locations, subject to iOS behavior

Settings and preferences

Viento stores app preferences needed to provide your selected experience, including:

• Temperature unit, such as Celsius or Fahrenheit
• Wind unit, such as km/h, m/s, mph, or knots
• Precipitation unit, such as millimeters or inches
• Distance unit, such as kilometers or miles
• Pressure unit, such as hPa, mb, or inHg
• Severe weather notification preference
• App language, appearance, and alternate app icon preferences
• Weather page order, visibility, and opening-page preferences
• Whether iCloud Sync is enabled
• Whether the first-launch Intro has been completed

Weather data

Viento uses Apple WeatherKit to request weather data for the selected location. This may include current conditions, temperature, hourly forecast, daily forecast, wind, gusts, wind direction, sunrise, sunset, moon phase, precipitation chance, precipitation amount, humidity, visibility, feels-like temperature, dew point, UV index, cloud layers, pressure, pressure trend, minute-by-minute precipitation, and severe weather alerts where available.

Weather data is provided by Apple WeatherKit and related Apple services. Viento does not create the underlying weather forecast data and does not control whether severe weather alerts are available for every location.

Notifications

If you enable Severe alerts in Viento Settings and grant notification permission, Viento may schedule a local iOS notification when a severe weather alert is issued for the selected location and available through WeatherKit.

• Notification permission is controlled by iOS
• You can disable notifications inside Viento or through iPhone Settings
• Notification sound behavior is controlled by iOS notification settings, Focus modes, device volume, and Apple system behavior
• Viento does not guarantee delivery of every notification
• Viento does not currently operate a server that continuously monitors weather alerts while the app is closed

Usage and technical data

Viento does not currently operate a custom analytics backend for your saved locations, selected location, or app settings. Limited technical information may still be processed by Apple or system services, such as:

• App version and build information
• Device type and operating system version
• Crash logs and performance diagnostics if you have enabled sharing diagnostics with Apple
• Notification authorization status managed by iOS
• StoreKit product information and verified purchase, transaction, and subscription entitlement status used to display Viento+ plans, complete or restore purchases, and unlock premium app and widget features

Viento does not receive or store your full payment card number, bank account details, or Apple Account password. Apple processes payments and maintains the associated billing records under Apple's own terms and privacy practices.

How Viento Uses Your Data

Viento may use stored or permitted data to:

• Show current weather for your current or selected location
• Display current, hourly, daily, wind, light, air, pressure, Conditions, Next 12, Next Hour, comparison, and widget information where available
• Search for and save locations you choose
• Apply your preferred units and notification settings
• Display Viento+ plans, process purchases through StoreKit, verify or restore your entitlement, and unlock subscribed features
• Sync supported saved locations and preferences through iCloud when you enable iCloud Sync
• Show in-app severe weather indicators when alerts are available
• Schedule local notifications if you enable severe weather notifications
• Remember that the Intro has been completed
• Maintain app reliability, stability, and support diagnostics

Storage and Sync

Viento stores core app preferences and saved locations locally on your device using Apple system storage. Viento does not provide a custom Viento account system or a custom cloud backend for saved locations, settings, purchases, or weather history.

• Saved locations and settings are stored on your device by default
• Viento and its widgets may share selected settings, cached weather information, selected-location data, and a locally cached Viento+ entitlement indicator through an Apple App Group on your device
• If you subscribe to Viento+ and enable iCloud Sync, supported saved locations and preferences are encoded and stored through Apple's iCloud key-value storage so they can sync across compatible devices signed in to your iCloud account
• You can disable iCloud Sync in Viento Settings. Data already stored in iCloud remains subject to your Apple account settings and Apple's retention practices
• Weather requests are made for the selected location when needed
• Deleting the app may remove local app data from your device, subject to iOS behavior

Third-Party and Apple Services

Viento relies on Apple-provided systems and services needed to run the app, such as:

• Core Location for current location permission and location access
• MapKit or Apple location services for location search and geocoding features
• WeatherKit for weather conditions, forecasts, and severe weather alerts
• UserNotifications for local severe weather notifications if enabled
• App Store and StoreKit for Viento+ product information, subscription purchases, verified transactions, entitlement status, and purchase restoration
• iCloud key-value storage for optional Viento+ sync when you enable iCloud Sync
• Apple diagnostics and crash-reporting systems if you have enabled sharing diagnostics with Apple

Weather and Safety Disclaimers

Viento is a weather information app. It is not an emergency alert system, public safety system, aviation tool, marine navigation tool, professional meteorological system, or substitute for official government warnings, emergency instructions, or professional judgment.

Severe weather alerts may not be available in every country, region, or location. Alert timing, content, severity, and availability are provided by Apple WeatherKit and its sources. You remain responsible for checking official local weather services, emergency authorities, and safety instructions when weather conditions may be dangerous.

Viento+ Subscriptions, Purchases, and Payments

Viento offers optional monthly and annual Viento+ auto-renewable subscriptions. Viento+ unlocks premium weather pages, widgets, location comparison, unlimited saved places, appearance and app icon options, page personalization, and optional iCloud Sync. The current included features are shown in Viento before you purchase and may evolve as the app is updated.

Payment processing

• Viento+ purchases are offered and processed by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit using your Apple Account
• The applicable price, currency, billing period, taxes, and any eligible introductory offer are displayed by Apple before you confirm a purchase and may vary by country or region
• Viento and the Company do not collect or store your full payment card details, bank account details, or Apple Account credentials
• Apple provides Viento with StoreKit product information and verified transaction and entitlement status needed to display plans, complete or restore purchases, and unlock Viento+ features in the app and widgets

Renewal, cancellation, and restoration

• Monthly and annual Viento+ subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel them
• Apple charges your Apple Account according to the terms shown in the purchase confirmation sheet and manages billing, renewal, cancellation, and refund requests under Apple's applicable policies
• You can manage or cancel Viento+ in your App Store subscription settings. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the current paid period, subject to Apple's terms
• The Restore Purchases control asks StoreKit to synchronize purchases associated with your Apple Account. Restoring an existing entitlement does not itself create a new subscription charge
• If a subscription expires, is refunded, revoked, or can no longer be verified, Viento+ features may become locked while Viento's free features remain available

App Store purchases are also governed by the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. Use of Viento is subject to Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement unless another applicable agreement is provided.

How Long Data Is Retained

Viento may keep locally stored app data, cached weather information, and locally cached entitlement status for as long as needed to provide the app experience, unless you delete saved locations, change settings, revoke permissions, remove the app, or remove data through Apple-managed systems where applicable. Information stored through optional iCloud Sync and App Store transaction or subscription records is retained and managed through Apple's systems and according to Apple's policies.

Your Choices and Rights

You may be able to:

• Allow, deny, or revoke location permission through iPhone Settings
• Add, select, or remove saved locations inside Viento
• Change temperature, wind, precipitation, distance, and pressure units inside Viento Settings
• Enable or disable severe weather notifications inside Viento Settings or iPhone Settings
• Disable notification sounds or adjust notification behavior through iPhone Settings
• Enable or disable iCloud Sync inside Viento Settings if the feature is available to you
• Delete local app data by removing Viento from your device
• Restore Viento+ purchases inside Viento or manage and cancel your subscription through App Store subscription settings

Children's Privacy

Viento is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data through Viento, contact us and we will review the issue.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this document from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of Viento after changes become effective means you accept the updated terms.

Terms of Use

By using Viento, you agree to use the app lawfully and responsibly. You agree not to misuse the app, interfere with the app's operation, attempt to bypass Viento+ purchase or entitlement logic, or interfere with location, WeatherKit, notification, StoreKit, iCloud, or other Apple system services.

Viento is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. We make no guarantee that the app will always be uninterrupted, error-free, available, accurate, timely, or suitable for every location, weather condition, emergency situation, travel plan, outdoor activity, or personal need.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the app. You remain responsible for checking official sources, local authorities, emergency guidance, and real-world conditions before making decisions based on weather information shown in Viento.
