You Become

Privacy Policy and Terms of Use

Everything you need to know about how the app handles your data, subscriptions, reminders, widgets, and daily growth experience.

Effective and last updated: August 8, 2026

No account required

You can use You Become without creating a profile or providing your name or email address.

Local-first experience

Your focus areas, favorites, progress, and settings stay on your device. Limited anonymous product events help us improve the App.

No ads or tracking

We do not sell personal data or use advertising identifiers for cross-app tracking.

1. Scope and Who We Are

This Privacy Policy and Terms of Use (the "Policy") applies to the You Become iOS application (the "App"), its widgets, and related support communications. The App is developed and operated by the You Become development team ("we," "us," or "our"). For applicable privacy laws, the development team acts as the controller of personal data that it determines how and why to process.

You Become provides daily self-growth thoughts, selectable focus areas, favorites, progress features, reminders, widgets, sharing tools, and optional Premium subscriptions.

Local-first by design. The App does not require an account. Personal choices such as selected focus areas, favorites, viewed-thought identifiers, and journey progress stay on your device. Depending on the App version, region, and configuration, we may operate the limited first-party analytics described below. When that analytics feature is active, it may begin automatically as the App is used. When it is not active, those product analytics events are not transmitted to our analytics database.

Wellness notice. You Become offers general inspirational and educational self-development content. It is not medical, psychological, psychiatric, therapeutic, or other professional advice; it does not diagnose or treat any condition; and it is not an emergency or crisis service. Seek a qualified professional or local emergency service when appropriate.

2. Information the App Handles

Information stored locally

To provide and personalize the experience, the App may store the following information in its private app storage, iOS preferences, and the shared App Group used by You Become widgets:

These personal choices and content identifiers are not used to create a server-side content profile and are not sent to our remote databases. If first-party analytics is active, it may include aggregate session counts, such as how many different thoughts were viewed, but not the identities of those thoughts or the focus areas involved.

Content synchronization

The App periodically contacts our cloud-hosted content database to check for new or updated focus areas and thoughts. It downloads the editorial content and stores a copy on your device so the App can continue working offline. These requests do not include your favorites, selected focus areas, journey progress, or other personal settings.

As with most internet services, our database and infrastructure providers may process ordinary technical request data such as an IP address, timestamp, network or device headers, request path, and security logs to deliver, secure, and maintain the service. We do not use this information for advertising or to build behavioral profiles.

Notifications

If you opt in, the App uses Apple's local notification system to schedule daily thoughts and, if separately enabled, a reminder before a free trial ends. Notification choices, times, and thought selection are handled on your device. We do not use a remote push-notification profile or upload your notification schedule. You can change or revoke notification permission at any time in iOS Settings.

Widgets

If you add a You Become widget, the App shares selected content and widget preferences through its private App Group so WidgetKit can display them. Widget content may be visible on your Home Screen or Lock Screen, and iOS may retain widget snapshots as part of normal system operation. You control where widgets appear and can remove them at any time.

Sharing

When you share a thought, the App creates an image locally and presents Apple's system share sheet. The temporary image is removed after sharing completes when the system callback is available, or may later be cleared by iOS. Once you choose a destination, that app or service handles the shared content under its own privacy practices. We do not receive the recipient or destination you select.

First-party product analytics and diagnostics

The App may include limited first-party product analytics so we can understand whether important flows work, measure broad feature use, diagnose problems, and improve the App. Availability and activation may vary by App version, region, and configuration. If this feature is not active, the product analytics events described in this subsection are not sent to our analytics database.

In App versions where analytics is active, it may be enabled by default and a separate Settings control may not be available. This Policy provides information about the processing but does not itself constitute consent where affirmative consent is required by law. Where applicable law permits limited first-party analytics without consent, we may rely on legitimate interests or another available legal basis. Where prior consent or a simple means of objecting is legally required, a separate mechanism is also required and may affect whether analytics is offered in a particular version or region.

If activated, analytics events may include app sessions; onboarding steps and completion; paywall views, dismissals, and source; purchase-button taps and verified purchase outcomes; daily-limit completion; widget invitations and entries; notification opens; rating-request attempts; installed content version; and aggregate session counts for viewed thoughts, favorites added or removed, shares started, and session duration.

Analytics records may include a random installation identifier, random session identifier, event time, App version and build, iOS version, general language or locale, content version, Premium status, relevant subscription product or offer identifier, and whether a verified purchase began an introductory trial. A random installation identifier allows events from one App installation to be distinguished over time. It is therefore pseudonymous rather than guaranteed to be anonymous and may be considered personal data under some laws. It is not an advertising identifier and is not intentionally linked to your Apple Account, name, email address, or activity in other companies' apps or websites.

We do not upload selected focus areas, thought text, viewed-thought identifiers, favorite identifiers, reminder time, notification content, sharing destination, contacts, precise location, advertising identifier, or health information for analytics. We do not use analytics for advertising, cross-app tracking, or sale of personal information.

Our infrastructure provider may process ordinary connection and security information, including an IP address and request timestamp, when an analytics request is transmitted. The App may also write limited feature and monetization information to Apple's unified device log and keep local counters needed to operate app flows. If you choose to share diagnostics with Apple, Apple may provide developers with crash, performance, and diagnostic information under your Apple privacy and analytics settings.

Support communications

If you email us, we receive the email address, message, and any information you voluntarily include. We use it to respond, provide support, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. Please do not send health information or other sensitive personal information.

3. How We Use Information

We use the limited information described above only as reasonably necessary to:

What we do not do

We do not require or intentionally collect your name, postal address, telephone number, contacts, precise location, photos, camera or microphone data, health data, or advertising identifier through the App. We do not run ads, track you across other companies' apps or websites, sell personal information, or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Legal bases in the EEA and United Kingdom

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, processing is based, as appropriate, on performance of the service you request; your consent, including where required for notifications or non-essential analytics; our legitimate interests in delivering content, securing the service, preventing abuse, maintaining reliability, and, where legally permitted, understanding and improving the App through limited first-party statistics; and compliance with legal obligations. Before relying on legitimate interests, we consider necessity, proportionality, reasonable expectations, and the effect on individual rights. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests and may withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.

4. Service Providers and Third Parties

We use a limited set of third-party platforms to operate the App. They may process information under their own terms and privacy policies:

We select providers expected to maintain safeguards appropriate to their role and applicable law and restrict service providers from using App analytics for their own advertising or cross-service tracking. Information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we use recognized transfer mechanisms, data-processing terms, and contractual, technical, or organizational safeguards.

We may disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect users or the public, investigate fraud or security issues, or establish and defend legal claims. If the App or its business is transferred, relevant information may be transferred subject to this Policy and applicable law.

5. Purchases, Trials, and Subscriptions

You Become may offer auto-renewable Premium subscriptions, including standard and promotional introductory offers. All purchases are offered and processed by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store. We do not receive or store your full payment card number, bank details, Apple Account password, or billing address.

The App receives product information and cryptographically verified transaction and entitlement status from Apple, such as product identifier, access status, eligibility, and expiration or renewal information. This is used only to provide Premium access and related purchase flows.

If you enable a trial reminder, it is scheduled locally as a convenience. Delivery is not guaranteed because it depends on notification permission, device settings, Focus modes, system scheduling, and device availability. You remain responsible for managing or canceling your subscription before renewal.

6. Storage and Security

Local information is stored inside the App's iOS sandbox or its private App Group. Network requests to content services and, when active, analytics services use encrypted HTTPS connections. Analytics ingestion is restricted and validated, and subscription access is based on StoreKit transaction verification. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures suited to the limited information we handle.

No storage or transmission method is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, uninterrupted availability, or that data retained by Apple, device backups, a sharing destination, or a service provider will never be accessed improperly.

7. Retention and Deletion

Because there is no You Become account and any analytics identifier is not intentionally linked to your name, email address, or Apple Account, we may be unable to connect a particular analytics record to you without additional information. This does not limit rights that apply under law. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to locate a record while avoiding unnecessary collection. We cannot view or remotely delete personal choices stored only on your device. Deleting the App removes its local container, subject to Apple backups and system behavior, and stops future App-originated collection from that installation. A later reinstall may create a new random identifier if analytics is then active. Remove widgets separately if necessary, and cancel any subscription separately through Apple.

8. Your Privacy Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection; withdraw consent; and receive information about processing. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. These rights can be subject to legal exceptions and may not apply where we do not possess or cannot identify the requested data.

You can exercise many choices directly:

We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising and therefore do not offer a sale or cross-context advertising opt-out. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights. To make a request about information we may hold through support communications or service records, contact us using the details below. We may need sufficient information to locate the record and verify the request without collecting unnecessary data.

Additional notice for United States residents

Subject to the App features that are active and the law that applies, categories of information we may process include identifiers such as a random installation or session identifier and ordinary network information; internet or electronic activity such as App interactions and session statistics; commercial information limited to verified subscription product, offer, entitlement, trial, or purchase outcome; device and diagnostic information such as App version, iOS version, locale, timestamps, and content version; and support content you choose to send. Sources may include the App and device, Apple transaction interfaces, our service providers, and information you submit directly. We use and disclose these categories to service providers for the operational, security, analytics, support, and legal purposes described in this Policy. We do not sell them or share them for cross-context behavioral advertising.

9. Children

The App is a general-audience self-development product and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through support or analytics. If we learn that we collected a child's personal information in circumstances requiring parental consent, we will take reasonable steps to stop the relevant processing and delete the information where required. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review it. Parents and guardians should supervise a child's device, purchases, notifications, and use of wellness content.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes to the App, service providers, laws, or business practices. The effective date at the top identifies the latest version. Material changes may also be communicated in the App or through another appropriate channel when required. An updated Policy does not by itself authorize processing that requires affirmative consent; where required, we will request a new or updated choice before the relevant processing begins.

11. Terms of Use

Acceptance and license

By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms of Use and Apple's applicable App Store terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App. We grant you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by App Store rules.

Permitted use

You may use the App only for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes. You must not copy, resell, sublicense, reverse engineer, bypass access controls or usage limits, interfere with the App or content service, use automated methods to extract substantial content, introduce malicious code, infringe rights, or use the App in a way that violates law or harms others, except where a restriction is prohibited by applicable law.

Content and intellectual property

The App, branding, visual design, software, curated thoughts, and other content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. The share feature permits reasonable personal sharing of individual generated quote images. It does not grant permission to reproduce, publish, scrape, compile, sell, or commercially exploit the content library.

Wellness content and user decisions

Thoughts are general prompts for reflection and may not be suitable for every person or circumstance. They are not a substitute for professional judgment or care. You are responsible for evaluating content and for decisions or actions you take. If you may be in danger, experiencing a crisis, or need medical or mental health assistance, contact qualified local services immediately rather than relying on the App.

Availability and changes

We may add, modify, suspend, limit, or discontinue features, content, offers, or support at any time. Content sync, widgets, notifications, StoreKit, and other features may be delayed or unavailable because of internet access, device settings, third-party services, maintenance, or technical failure. We do not promise that any particular thought, category, feature, price, or offer will remain available.

Subscriptions

Premium subscriptions are governed by the disclosures in Section 5 and by the terms shown by Apple before purchase. Subscription access may be suspended or end when a transaction expires, is revoked, is refunded, or cannot be verified. Promotional offers are subject to eligibility and availability.

Third-party services

The App relies on Apple and cloud database or hosting providers and may let you open or share to third-party services. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, availability, security, or conduct. Their terms apply to your use of them.

Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App and its content are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, uninterrupted operation, or achievement of a particular personal outcome. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; loss of data, revenue, profits, goodwill, or opportunity; decisions made using App content; missed notifications; or harm arising from inability to use the App. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the App during the 12 months before the claim or the minimum amount required by law. These limits do not apply where prohibited, including liability that cannot be limited for fraud, willful misconduct, death, or personal injury.

Suspension and termination

You may stop using the App at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially violate these Terms, misuse the App, threaten its security, or where required by law. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by applicable law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except that mandatory consumer protections and jurisdiction rights in your country of residence remain unaffected. Nothing here limits rights you cannot waive under applicable law.

Apple terms

Apple is not responsible for maintaining or supporting the App except as required by law, and Apple is a third-party beneficiary of the applicable end-user terms. To the extent these Terms do not provide otherwise, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies.
